Most frequently asked questions
WHAT MAKES HARRIS TWEED® SPECIAL?
Harris Tweed® is a globally protected fabric produced exclusively in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. It is made from 100% pure new wool and woven by hand in traditional looms. Each bale bears a seal of authenticity confirming its origin and quality.
HOW ROBUST IS THE FABRIC IN EVERYDAY USE?
Harris Tweed® is particularly durable and weatherproof – properties that result from the tight weave and natural impregnation of the wool. The fabric was originally developed for the rugged nature of Scotland and is therefore also ideal for everyday use with baby carriages.
ARE THERE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE COLOR VARIANTS?
No – all variants are made of the same wool quality and offer the same thermo-regulating properties. The choice of color is therefore purely aesthetic and has no influence on the interior climate of the car.
HOW DO I CARE FOR HARRIS TWEED®?
The fabric is easy to care for – light soiling can be removed with a damp cloth. For more intensive cleaning, we recommend spot cleaning with a wool cleaner or using an appropriate care product for natural wool.
HOW IS HARRIS TWEED MADE?
Every meter of Harris Tweed is hand-woven on the island of Lewis and Harris. The new wool comes mainly from Scotland, is dyed locally, blended, spun and finally woven by islanders working at home. The result is a natural textile with a lot of personality – durable, breathable and climate-regulating.
